School News & Announcements

2nd Semester has Started

With second semester starting this week, this is a great time to talk with your student about their grades and graduation progress.  This is very important for parents of seniors.  Seniors need to have 24 of the right credits completed by May 28 so they can walk on May 30.  They also need to make sure their Essential Skills and CRLE's are complete.  If you don't know how to access your student's PowerSchool account from home, please call us and we can help get you set up.  If you feel it is necessary to talk with our counselor or teachers, just call to set up an appointment.  Working together increases the odds of your child graduating on time.

Welcome to Umatilla High School

Umatilla High School Making a Difference!

Umatilla High School is a 3A school with approximately 400 students, 25 teachers and licensed members and 18 classified staff members. We have a dedicated and highly qualified staff that provides our students with an educational experience that prepares them for college and career opportunities. Beyond our core courses, we provide students the opportunity to experience classes in CTE course in computer systems, woods, metals, and robotics.  Many of our advanced courses in science, math, foreign language, social sciences provide students with dual credit opportunities.  We are very proud of our School Board's commitment to exposing our students to college courses and their priority to pay for the credits earned by our students.  This past year, 66 our of 90 seniors earned 1,854 college credits either through dual credit, Eastern Promise or online College courses.  This would equal a cost to our students of $268,830 if they attended BMCC on their own.  We continue to see students graduate with both a high school and 2 year college AAOT degree.  This past year we celebrated five students earning this achievement.

Umatilla High School is a place were we seek to get students involved.  We have many opportunities for students to explore their individual differences by becoming part of a club or team.  We offer many opportunities either through our after school program, athletics, and service clubs.

Our focus on high standards and the belief that our students will rise to the challenge continues to show results.  We raised our graduation rate in 2017 to 82%, 5 points above the state average.  We also marked the first time we exceeded the state average in every single student group.  The staff at Umatilla High School is committed to a "no excuses" mindset.  We will work to insure students who commit to good attendance, try their best and buy into our vision, they will find success.

We are proud of our community and are very thankful for their support in all that we do for their children!
